Fleas are a pest to every member of your household. You, your family and your pets can all be set upon by these blood suckers. Fleas are parasites that feed on the blood of larger animals and leave itchy and irritating bites which can last for several weeks. These bites can sometimes become so inflamed that it becomes difficult to fall asleep and uncomfortable to move around. Even worse is that some people are allergic to flea saliva, leaving not only bites on the skin but a painful rash as well. The irritation is not the worse part about fleas, however. Fleas are vectors for disease, meaning that they can spread viruses, bacteria and even give their host tapeworms.

For these reasons it is important to call the professionals at Fairfax Pest Control as soon as possible. Fleas do not just stay on their hosts but also get into furniture, carpets, linens, cloths and drapes. We have the equipment and knowledge to completely remove the fleas from your premise. We will deep clean your fabrics and upholstery, eliminating not only the fleas but also the eggs which can stay dormant for more than a year. This is why it is important to have an insured professional perform your pest control.

There are several ways to check to see if you have a flea infestation:

Bite marks are the first sign of an infestation. Look for reddish bumps usually in a cluster or in lines of two bumps. Fleas can bite any part of your body but often the bites are around the ankles and legs.

Pet Check: Inspect your pets around the ears and other places that they cannot scratch easily. As fleas are fast and hard to see look for little black droppings. To check if it is a dropping or just dirt, put it in water. A dropping will turn reddish brown.

Hike up your socks: If you walk around your home while wearing white socks the fleas are easier to see. Fleas love hitching a ride so they can be seen jumping aboard fairly quickly.

These are just a few ways to check if you have fleas in your home. If you suspect a flea issue then give Fairfax Pest Control. We will perform an inspection and give you a free estimate.
